At The Story Round, we offer unique creative writing workshops designed specifically for seniors. Our experienced mentors create a supportive environment for developing and nurturing writing skills and fostering connections with personal histories. Participants will explore a variety of narratives and styles that will help them find their own voice and create lasting and original works. Our classes encourage collaboration, connection, and reflection with the goal of using writing to take ordinary life experiences and reveal them as extraordinary. Our Focus
As their parents began to age, the founders of The Story Round recognized a need for engaging and collaborative activities for senior populations. With more than 30 years of teaching experience between them, Eva Shtein and Jennifer Albertson designed a creative writing curriculum especially for senior citizens. These fun and informative workshops focus on engaging memory and experience to generate ideas that will then be transformed into literature. The Story Round offers a variety of workshop styles ranging from 60-90 minute standalone courses to weekly courses over longer terms; our curriculum can be tailored to fit the needs of your community.
Our Team
Eva Shtein
Founder & Facilitator
Eva Shtein has been an educator for 18 years. She has BA in English from Stony Brook University and MS in English with a concentration in Creative Writing and 20th Century Theater. She also has an extension and is licensed 5-12. Eva has taught creative writing for the majority of her career. She has both participated in and helped students participate in national and international writing contests.
Jennifer Albertson
Founder & Facilitator
Jennifer Albertson has been an educator for 13 years. She has a BA in English from Emory University and a MS in Adolescent Education from St. John’s. She is also dual certified in English and Special Education and has a Masters in K-12 Literacy. Jenn has facilitated multiple writing workshops ranging from writing college essays to writing memoirs and tutors students at all levels of writing.
